Gestalt Therapy Fritz Perls
Gestalt Therapy Fritz Perls
Some history of gestalt therapy
Pearls discrepancies with classical Freudian concepts first appeared in his book "The Ego, hunger and aggression: review of Freudian theory and method?. It was in this book that I first addressed the vital role it has consciousness (awarness) in the development and maintenance of human behavior "normal? and mentioned that when a disruptive behavior that indicates that the process of psychological growth is obstructed gaps or defects per distortions in consciousness. These ideas eventually led to the systematic formulation of an alternative approach to clinical treatment called Perls of Gestalt therapy.
Gestalt therapy goals
Gestalt therapists are directed towards a few basic goals in the course of treatment. Above all, like other clinicians phenomenologically oriented, Gestalt therapists seek to restore interrupted growth process of the client.
The gestalt therapy method
Focus on the here and now: Like other phenomenological, Perls believed strongly that therapeutic progress can only be accomplished by keeping the customer in touch with their feelings as they occur in the immediate present, in the "here and now? .
The resistance management: Perls believed that instead of looking at resistance only inanimate as a barrier to growth, the client must recognize and remove, it is valuable to the client to explore the specific nature of resistance.
Thwarting the client: Perls believed that most clients come to therapy wanting to feel better without actually changing or leaving their games papal misfits. As it seemed that allowing customers continue using their usual style in the therapy would be a waste of time for everyone, Perls went immediately to thwart the efforts of customers to relate to him as they would normally with others.
Use non-verbal: nonverbal channel is seen as especially useful career obvious but subtle messages that often contradict the client's words.
The use of dreams: In gestalt therapy, dreams are regarded not only as the fulfillment of desire but as a person posts to itself.
Gestalt therapy applications
Perls believed that his method was equally valuable for individual therapy to group therapy with people in different diagnostic categories, but also believed it could be a useful way to raise awareness and improve the functioning of the people in general.
EVALUATION OF THERAPIES PHENOMENOLOGICAL
There is no doubt that the therapies and their non-phenomenological treatment have a significant impact. They offer a "third option? which is welcome for those not completely satisfied with the treatments offered or psychodynamic models of social learning.
Despite the phenomenological treatment methods have received their critical part. Those who see the problems and weaknesses in the phenomenological therapies underline the following aspects:
The language of phenomenology is often esoteric, complex and generally unclear.
Phenomenological treatment procedures are incomplete.
