A Lap With Officials
20 years ago, when Mario Conde exemplified the financial pitch, the largest Spanish university wanted to be entrepreneurs. Since the banker in jail, preferred to be officials. And the administration has dutifully fulfilled his wishes: while in the 27 EU countries decreased by 1.4% the number of staff in this decade, Spain has grown by 32%.
Now, during the economic crisis, taking the state to cut the deficit, instead of thinning the cost of this group, as expected, increases their wages by 4%. What a paradox!
To compensate for the blunder, the Vice President Elena Salgado announced that in ten retirees will pay for the position of nine of them. In other words, instead of handing the job to not destroy more jobs, it predicts a further rise in unemployment, this time via civil service.
And is that the government of Rodriguez Zapatero, in order not to undertake deep reforms, financial, tax, labor, ... - is creating a monster hit economic patches, improvisations and multiple occurrences. In its time, the then Minister Jordi Sevilla wanted to reform the civil service status by introducing the criterion of mobility, efficiency and even termination of contract and, instead of obtaining it, was himself put out into the street for their boss.
Off excess staff excellent professionals in Spain, many of them-with duplication of functions between state administrations, the lack of conclusive evidence and rigorous approach when channel our collective economic future.
