Versus Multi-Level Marketing Affiliate Marketing

Is there a difference?

Multi-Level Marketing or MLM provides two ways to make a profit. The first method is selling products. You become a distributor of products both sell and buy through your website or directly from you.

The second way to earn a profit is to recruit other people to join your downline, you earn a small amount of money from them, as well as any from any of the products they sell.

The people who recruit and recruit people in their downline and also earn a portion of sales and on it goes down the line. Some companies have put a stop where it will go 9-12 levels deep, sometimes even beyond.

What scares most people about MLM is the thin line between legitimate and scam. One of the easiest ways to tell the difference is that the primary purpose of the program is only for you to hire people, then this is not a good sign. The reason is if everyone continues to recruit, soon there will be too many people and nothing to sell, and no profit margin.

Some good examples of legitimate MLM (although I do not like to be thought that term) companies would be strong Future International, WAH Powermall, Highway or savings. With each of these societies there are products to buy at a discount, you can recruit people to your "downline", and earn your commissions from every level of your downline. There are no requirements for a minimum purchase of promoting these programs.

An affiliate marketer is very similar to anyone in MLM. Unlike MLM, however, affiliate marketing is selling a product once, to be paid once. There is no downline to the products themselves. Therefore, there are no residual incomes.

An exception would be if someone has signed with an affiliate network (this is a site that lists companies that want to sell their products), under you affiliate marketing, then you should gain any person it promotes. This creates residual income and multiple streams of income.

As an affiliate marketer you work for a wide range of companies, rather than just one. Will be paid through the affiliate network site the amount that is sent when you sign up for the program. Usually they are paid within 30 days of any purchase, sometimes every two weeks.

It 's important that you have your website, as you will need a place to promote companies that want to promote. Most affiliates do not accept as a client unless you have your own domain and website. So there's a small investment.

It can be either an affiliate marketing and MLM business and have the best of both worlds .......
